I am a board-certified psychiatrist in private practice. I work mainly through insight-oriented psychotherapy, but I also offer diagnostic evaluations and prescribing services. Patients see me for a variety of concerns around self-esteem, trauma, attachment, dependency, boundaries, self-criticism, and childhood abuse/neglect. These issues may lead to shame, guilt, anxiety, irritability, mood swings, perfectionism, self-loathing, or repeated conflicts with family, colleagues, or romantic partners. Therapy is a chance to think carefully together about your past and present experiences to deepen your insight into your situation. As we come to understand your inner world, I hope you will gradually notice a greater sense of flexibility, freedom, and openness to life's many joys and challenges. As a psychiatrist, I am happy to help with diagnostic clarification and medical treatment of most general psychiatric conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, and others. While medications alone often fail to address the deeper conflicts and traumas that cause our symptoms, a thoughtful approach to prescribing can help build a foundation for the personal work that leads to lasting change. I have special experience working with university students and early career professionals in medicine, academia, law, tech, and the arts. I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and I welcome and affirm those who may identify as LGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent.

During our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming space where you don’t have to have it all together. I take time to get to know you, understand what’s bringing you to therapy, and explore what you hope to gain from it. We’ll talk about your goals, what’s been challenging, and what “feeling better” might look like for you. My approach is conversational and collaborative. I meet you where you are and move at your pace. By the end of our first session, my goal is for you to feel seen, understood, and more hopeful about your next steps.

Deborah knows that everything heals. One of her favorite quotes continues, “Your heart heals. The mind heals. Wounds heal. Your happiness is always going to come back. Bad times don’t last” (Unknown). As a provider, Deborah offers her clients support, guidance and encouragement to help them find the internal cognitive resources needed to increase their resiliency against life’s difficulties. She encourages her clients to begin their work together with an open mind and a readiness to explore different solutions to their challenges. Since childhood, she has had a passion for helping others and, today, loves it when her patients learn to feel empowered and more positive about themselves and their lives. With an empathetic, conversational approach, Deborah explores behaviors, solutions and goals with her patients. She draws from numerous modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused (brief) therapy (SFBT), Reality Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Since her clients are often dealing with complex issues, she pulls from multiple approaches in order to address everyone’s needs.

You struggle to connect with your authentic self as you navigate life’s transitions and their impact on your identity and relationships. You notice yourself falling into the same patterns that leave you feeling even more disconnected and overwhelmed. Together, we will explore the stories that shape your inner world. I will support you in letting go of expectations that don't align with your values and building confidence in yourself as the author of your own life. When everything starts to feel like too much, I want you to feel grounded in who you are. My name is Sam, and I believe you deserve to be yourself unapologetically. Finding a balance between honoring your needs, reconciling the past, and fostering relationships is challenging, but you don't have to face it alone. Counseling is a vehicle for promoting holistic health, and you get to decide what wellness looks like for you during our time together. I enjoy using a person-centered therapeutic approach that incorporates theories and interventions from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client. I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice. Together, we can explore the barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want.

Healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All parts of you are welcome here. I’m not here to change you or fix you. I don’t think you are “broken” or that there's anything "wrong" with you. Together we'll create an accepting + compassionate environment, with respect for your intuition + body's wisdom underlying all that we do. I’m trauma + social justice-informed and view therapy through an intersectional lens (mind, body, environment, culture). During our time together, we’ll likely look at environmental factors (interpersonal, economic, oppression) that create individual/collective stress and trauma. I value equity, consent and boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgmental and accepting. My approach is collaborative + holistic, centering around values of⁣ empathy, connection and deep listening. I’m Internal Family Systems-informed and incorporate somatic + mindfulness-based approaches into sessions. I provide an Autism-affirming perspective in therapy and believe Autism is a genetically-based neurotype, not a medical disorder. "I understand being autistic to be a cultural identity and recognize autistic people as experts on their own culture." (quote from Trauma Geek). Please visit my website for more information. Warmly, River (they/she)

College can bring pressure from every direction—academics, relationships, family expectations, finances, identity, and uncertainty about what comes next. You may be doing everything expected of you while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. I work well with students who want to understand the patterns shaping their lives, strengthen their boundaries, improve their relationships, and make decisions with greater confidence. I also support students navigating cultural identity, major life transitions, family conflict, burnout, grief, and the challenges of living or studying away from home. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and practical. We will look at your experiences within the context of your relationships, history, culture, responsibilities, and current environment. Sessions provide space to explore what is happening beneath the surface while developing tools you can use in your everyday life. My goal is to help you build greater clarity, self-trust, and a stronger sense of direction.

I enjoy working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have a passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives back from trauma, and I believe trauma therapy is more important now than ever. I believe the mind/body connection is very strong, and is important in mental health. I also work with clients who are experiencing stress, life transitions, and grief. I am an EMDRIA certified Therapist and IFS informed. I also use a lot of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness interventions. I am also very strengths- based. In my sessions, I aspire to offer a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to my clients, so they can be themselves, and work through whatever is keeping them from being their best selves. I operate through a strengths-based approach, and will try to bring laughter and humor into the sessions (when appropriate) as laughter is the best medicine.
